Evangelia Kingsley was recently seen in Zorba! at Encores, as well as playing Aunt Alicia in the Storm Theatre Company's production of Gigi (the play by Anita Loos). Other credits include Signora Naccarelli in the First National Tour of Light in the Piazza as well as in the Choir in Broadway's Coram Boy. Her previous jaunt on Broadway was in Puccini’s La Boheme, directed by Baz Luhrmann. Other recent work includes Rivkah in the Off-Broadway production of The Magdalene, Queen Aggravain in the Princeton Festival's Once Upon A Mattress, the Housekeeper in Man of La Mancha at the Arts Center of the Coastal Carolinas, Ludmilla in a concert version of Mother Russia at Zankel Hall, Consuelo in I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky with the new music ensemble, Alarm Will Sound, Senorita Gomez in Gauchito and the Pony with the Queens Symphony Orchestra, the Beggar Woman in the Princeton Festival’s production of Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd and Zita in OPA! The Musical at Queens Theatre in the Park. She has sung the roles of Goffredo in Handel's Rinaldo with Les Talens Lyriques, in Beaune, France, der Trommler in Victor Ullman's opera Der Kaiser von Atlantis at the Cleveland Public Theatre, and the Witch in Lyric Opera Cleveland's production of Sondheim's Into the Woods. An active recitalist and cabaret singer, Evangelia has performed her one-woman shows Dance Me to the End of Love, Places to Live: Travelling Music for the Restless, Twisted: A Tribute to Lunacy, Tell Me the Truth About Love and Fancie: The Songs and Words of Shakespeare nationally and at the Metropolitan Room, Danny’s Skylight Room, the Cornelia Street Cafe and at South Oxford Space in New York. She has also performed the songs of Richard Rodgers with the Walla Walla Symphony Orchestra and has narrated Peter and the Wolf and The Restless Giant for the 9th Street Philharmonic in Missouri. She holds a Master of Music degree from Indiana University as well as an MFA in acting from Southern Methodist University. She continues to perform in theatre, having played Lady Macbeth with Hip to Hip Theatre, the Marchioness Matilda Spina in Pirandello’s Henry IV at the Storm Theatre in New York, the Gatekeeper in Strindberg's A Dream Play at the Cleveland Play House, Dolores in the Cleveland Play House's production of Yerma, Charmian in Great Lakes Theatre's Antony and Cleopatra, Channa Esther in their production of The Dybbuk and Morning Star in the Ensemble Theatre's production of The Kentucky Cycle. This summer, she can be seen as Mistress Quickly in Merry Wives and Nerissa in Merchant of Venice with Hip to Hip Theatre. Proud member of Actors’ Equity, SAG and AFTRA.

Opera Ithaca Announces 2018/2019 Season

Opera Ithaca announces their 5th season since the company's founding in 2014. The 2018/2019 season will include Hamlet, A Little Night Music, La bohème and a double bill of Francesca Caccini's Liberation (La Liberazione di Ruggiero) and the world premiere of Kamala Sankaram and Rob Handel's Enchantress.
Hip To Hip Theatre Co Presents HENRY IV, Part 2 Staged Reading This Weekend

Kicking off the season will be Hip to Hip's first indoor offering: a free staged reading of Shakespeare's Henry IV, Part 2, finishing what Hip to Hip started with last season's triumphant production of Henry IV, Part 1. Shakespeare's action-packed and hilarious cavalcade of noble warriors, scheming rebels, and brawling tavern scoundrels, led by the iconic Sir John Falstaff, will be staged on April 28th at 2 pm at The Queens Museum; and April 29th at 7 pm at The Actors Company Theatre (TACT).

PANGEA Signature Acts Gather For 1st Winter Alt-Fest

Opera Ithaca presents the regional premiere of Thumbprint, a 90 minute English-language contemporary opera from composer Kamala Sankaram and librettist Susan Yankowtiz about Mukhtar Mai and her heroic fight for women's rights in Pakistan.

Opera Ithaca will open its third season with a grand celebration entitled Masquerade, followed by the regional premiere of Kamala Sankaram's opera based on the story of Mukhtar Mai, Thumbprint, a New Year's Eve Gala to include Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio and a spring 2017 production of Rossini's Cinderella, in addition to several concerts and community events.

THE MAGDALENE Closes

The Magdalene, a musical play about Mary Magdalene, closed July 13 after 15 previews and 17 performances. The production, opened off-Broadway at St. Clement's Theatre on Tuesday, June 28.

Last night, June 27, the off-broadway theater scene became a bit richer with the advent of The Magdalene, a musical play about Mary Magdalene composed by James Olm with a book by Mr. Olm and J.C. Hanley. Tony Award winner Richard Maltby, Jr. served as the Creative Consultant on the production, which was directed by Richard Burk. Previews began on June 14.
