One of the hottest tickets of past holiday seasons - Midsommer Flight's "pay-what-you-can" production of TWELFTH NIGHT, performed in the beautiful Show House Room of the Lincoln Park Conservatory - will return for its fourth year on November 29, 2018. Midsommer Flight's FOURTEEN LINES recording launch party has been moved to Uncommon Ground Edgewater. The event is relocated following abrupt closure of Uptown Underground on Tuesday. The Monday, September 17 benefit party celebrating the release of Midsommer Flight's first stand-alone album of twelve Shakespearean sonnets set to music - originally scheduled to be held at Uptown Underground - has been moved to Uncommon Ground - Edgewater, at 1401 W. Devon Ave.

Midsommer Flight sings Shakespeare in FOURTEEN LINES recording of 12 sonnets set to original music CD launch party Monday September 17 at Uptown Underground With its seventh summer of free Shakespeare performances as an Arts Partner in Chicago Park District parks concluding on August 26, the Chicago theatre company Midsommer Flight is offering audiences another way to enjoy Shakespeare. Building upon its success in creating original music for its productions, Midsommer Flight has developed its first stand-alone album of twelve Shakespearean sonnets set to music composed by Midsommer Flight ensemble members Elizabeth Rentfro and Erick Rivera. Rentfro and Rivera have written original music for many of the company's productions, including its popular music-infused annual Twelfth Night each December.

Midsommer Flight's summer 2017 production - Hamlet, Prince of Denmark - is performed in an abridged 100-minute version that captures the murderous intrigues of the royal family - complete enough for those familiar with the play and accessible for newcomers to it. Midsommer Flight continues its fifth season of free Shakespeare programming, presenting a remount of last year's hit, a free indoor production of the comedy Twelfth Night, by William Shakespeare, directed by Midsommer Flight's Producing Artistic Director Beth Wolf and music directed by Midsommer Flight's Resident Music Director Elizabeth Rentfro in partnership with the Lincoln Park Conservatory. This early winter production of Twelfth Night is presented in the Show House room at the Lincoln Park Conservatory, 2391 N. Stockton Dr., now through December 18. Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble (CDE) concludes its 15th season dedicated to the woman's voice, and its ongoing mission of "performance with a purpose," with Shirley Lauro's A Piece of My Heart, directed by CDE fellow Victoria Alvarez-Chacon, and described by the Association of Vietnam Veterans of America as "the most enduring play on Vietnam in the nation."  A Piece of My Heart follows tells the true experiences of six women working in Vietnam during wartime. The powerful accounts of these women - five nurses and one country western singer - take place before, during and after Vietnam, and each story concludes with a personal token left at the memorial wall in Washington.
