David L. Harris BIO
Trombone player, vocalist, composer David L. Harris Jr. embodies the edge of modern jazz and the sultriness of blues. Every time he steps on stage, David takes us on the emotionally engaging journey of love and liberation, wrapped in a sound that embraces the groove, grit and swing of the past. Growing up in a neighborhood called Scotlandville, in Baton Rouge, La, David L. found his fingers pressed against the sliding brace of the trombone at the age of sixteen and has never let go since. Self taught, David L. would spend seven hours a day practicing while allowing the sounds of legendary musicians like, Tyree Glenn, Joe “Tricky Sam” Nanton and Al Grey train him along the way. David L. went on to further his knowledge of music and fine tune his technique, by continuing his studies at Southern University, Louisiana State University and the University of New Orleans.
Continuing to let his love for music lead him, Nowadays, he can be found swinging his plunger mute gently against the bell of his Antoine Courtois trombone, while playing beside highly noted musicians at concerts and festivals all over the world. He has captured and moved audiences in China, Europe, Russia, South America, Australia, Canada, South Africa and in over twenty cities in Japan.
Music lovers have stepped and grooved to the sound of his trombone at some of the liveliest jazz festivals in the world, like The Newport Jazz Festival, The Montreal Jazz Festival, The Joy Of Jazz Festival, The North Sea Jazz Festival, The New Orleans & Heritage Jazz Festival and Jazz à Vienne. David L. has graced legendary concert halls, such as the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NY, The Lincoln Center in New York, NY, and The L'Olympia Music Hall in Paris, France; and has played beside some of the most astonishingly talented bands and vocalist like Dee Dee Bridgewater, Wynton Marsalis, Kurt Elling, Shannon Powell, Herlin Riley, Aaron Neville, Delfeayo Marsalis, Haley Reinhart, Dr. Michael White, and The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra.
As David L. continues to share himself on stage, accompanying artist across the world he is excited to share himself more intimately with the debut of his first solo album entitled "Blues I Felt".

On Sunday and Monday nights, Broadway/television star Anita Gillette had a ball celebrating Irving Berlin. Of course, she sang many Berlin standards, and a few unearthed gems. But that's not what made the evening extra-special. You see, Anita had a real-life friendship with the composer. It all started during the creation of a Broadway show called Mr. President, written by Berlin, and starring Gillette.

Jeffrey Hatcher's stage adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel A CONFERERACY OF DUNCES, now in its world premiere at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston, feels like a lost opportunity. Much like its obnoxious and oversized central character Ignatius J. Reilly, a slovenly, unemployed 30-year-old still living with and supported by his sweetly doting mother, the play is a lumbering behemoth that is often equal parts boring and boorish.
