Algonquin Theater Productions has announced that veteran theater stars Ken Jennings from the United States and Joaquin Romero from Mexico will be portraying Walter Winchell in the international presentation of the new Al Tapper musical The Paparazzi. The performance will feature casts from both Guadalajara and New York as they tell the tale of The Paparazzi in both English and Spanish. This one night only event will be done at the historic Ellington Room at 400 West 43rd Street, February 28th at 7:30pm.

On Sunday, November 11th, Algonquin Theater Productions will present a reading of its new musical, 'The Paparazzi', music and lyrics by Al Tapper, book by Tony Sportiello, directed by Tom Herman.  Some will walk to see the reading, some will take cars or subways.  And some will fly from more than 2500 miles away. 

Broadway star Jim Newman ('Hands on a Hardbody', 'Curtains', 'Steel Pier') joins the cast of the new musical 'The Paparazzi' for a reading this November 11th and 12th at 305 West 38th Street, Ripley Grier Studio Theater. Newman plays country music star Jimmy Maguire who falls prey to the paparazzi and their penchant for distorting the truth. The show has music and lyrics by Al Tapper and a book by Tony Sportiello. The reading on the 11th will be at 6pm, while the one on the 12th will be 1pm.

'The Paparazzi' is a new musical about the tabloid news industry dominated by the fictional paper, the New York Beacon. In keeping with the premise, Algonquin Theater Productions has chosen to advertise its upcoming public readings on social media with a series of satirical, eye catching fake headlines. Each one features a member of the cast with a famous celebrity.

Davidson plays Christie Barnes, an ambitious young reporter whose dream is to win a Pulitzer Prize but whose reality at the moment is stuck following D List celebrities at weddings and bar mitzvahs. Spencer Plachy plays the morally bankrupt owner of the Beacon, less interested in 'all the news that's fit to print' so much as how many Likes it will get on the Facebook Page. Drama Desk Award Winner Ken Jennings (Sweeney Todd) narrates the modern day fable as the spirit of Walter Winchell in the Broadway bound musical featuring the talents of Abe Goldfarb, Laua Kaldis, Kelli Maguire, Michael McIntyre and Dan Van Why.

How to Succeed follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who climbs the corporate ladder from window washer to high-powered executive with the help of a little handbook called How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Based on the 1952 Shepherd Mead satire, How to Succeed features music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock, and Willie Gilbert. The New York Times says of How To Succeed, 'It stings mischievously and laughs uproariously […] It belongs to the blue chips among modern musicals.'

At the end of the day, PETER PAN AND WENDY is a great family show with some solid acting and design work. It's another victory for Imagination Stage.

The National Theatre's Helen Hayes Gallery set the scene for the announcement of nominees in 26 categories for artistic excellence and the announcement of the recipient of the 2012 John Aniello Award for Outstanding Emerging Theatre Company. The Helen Hayes Awards is one of the most prestigious honors for artists and theatre companies in Washington's vibrant theatre scene.
