Review: THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG at Kavinoky Theatre

What did our critic think of Just how wrong can everything go so that it looks wrong in a perfect way? That should be the goal in any good  farce. And the farce du jour these days seems to be the ridiculously absurd but oh so perfectly titled, THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG now playing at the Kavinoky Theatre. THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG at Kavinoky Theatre?

BWW Review: WAITING FOR GODOT at Irish Classical Theatre

After a near two year absence, live audiences have returned to Irish Classical Theatre. And the production that inaugurated the company is back again, nestled into it's home stage, which may never have been dreamt of 30 years ago. Irishman Samuel Beckett's WAITING FOR GODOT is on the boards and audiences can once again ponder it's genius and complexity. Written in French in 1953 and later translated into English by Beckett himself, GODOT is undoubtedly one of his most produced and debated pieces.

BWW Review: THE NIGHT ALIVE at Irish Classical Theatre

Unhappiness in rural Dublin-- Not an altogether unlikely topic for a play. But when Buffalo's Irish Classical Theatre included Conor McPherson's THE NIGHT ALIVE as part of their season of comedies, I wondered how it fit the bill. Happily the play about unhappiness somehow morphs from dark comedy to a classic film noir script and ticks all the boxes for a riveting production.

BWW Review: FULLY COMMITTED at Irish Classical Theatre

Imagine a day at the office when no one else shows up but you. Well this underground office takes the reservations for an upscale Manhattan restaurant and the frenetic, frenzied and fast paced hijinks that ensue make up the delightful comedy FULLY COMMITTED playing at Irish Classical Theatre.

BWW Reviews: Solving THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD at the Kavinoky Theatre

When you hear the name Charles Dickens, you almost automatically put in your mind an image of that cute little orphan boy roaming the streets of London picking pockets, or maybe the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future guiding Scrooge on a walk down memory lane. You probably don't think of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. In picking their show for the Curtain Up celebration, the Kavinoky Theatre did, and the entire Buffalo theatre community has benefited from it.
