Los Angeles Jazz Society Tribute and Awards to Be Held Later This Month


Los Angeles Jazz Society's annual Jazz Tribute Concert and Awards are a celebration of jazz and its talented musicians who have made this extraordinary music their life's passion. This year's edition, hosted by KJAZZ's Rhonda Hamilton, will feature over 90 minutes of musical tributes, honoring the likes of Rickey Minor, Ledisi, and Bill Holman at the Montalban Theatre in Hollywood on Saturday, October 29, 2022, beginning at 7:30pm.

Disney Channel to Premiere Season Two of BIG CITY GREENS on November 16


Season two of the hit animated comedy-adventure series 'Big City Greens' premieres SATURDAY, NOV. 16 (9:30 a.m. EST/PST), on Disney Channel and in DisneyNOW. Created and executive produced by brothers Chris and Shane Houghton ('Harvey Beaks'), the series follows mischievous and optimistic 10-year-old Cricket Green who moves from the country to the big city with his wildly out of place family—older sister Tilly, father Bill and Gramma Alice. 'Big City Greens' ranks among the top five animated series across all Cable with Kids and Girls 6-11.

HAMLET: PRINCESS OF DENMARK Comes to Bryant Park With The Drilling Company


Bryant Park welcomes back one of New York's most beloved theater companies, The Drilling Company (TDC) - renowned for their Shakespeare in the Parking Lot series - for their sixth annual season in the park. In May, The Drilling Company's Producing Artistic Director Hamilton Clancy will open the Bryant Park Picnic Performances with Hamlet: Princess of Denmark, the company's uniquely gender-shifted twist on the legendary play, starring Jane Bradley as Hamlet and a cast that includes Ayo Onek Cummings, P tra Denison, Bob Acaro, Veronica Cruz, Bill Green, Rachel Collins, John Caliendo, Dan Teachout, Liz Livingston, Gracie Winchester, Colleen Cosgrove, Kendra Oberhauser, and Elowyn Castle, with direction from Karla Hendrick.

Free performances, originally scheduled for July 12 to 28, will now be presented July 19 to 28 in the Parking Lot of The Clemente, 114 Norfolk Street (E. side of Norfolk St. between Delancey and Rivington). The first week's performances had to be foregone due to an unfortunate miscommunication. Fortunately, the executive leadership of The Clemente stepped in and resolved the impasse with The Drilling Company and Shakespeare in the Parking Lot was able to live on.

Disney Channel has ordered a second season of animated comedy-adventure series 'Big City Greens,' about a mischievous and optimistic country boy who moves to the big city with his wildly out of place family, ahead of its series debut, MONDAY, JUNE 18 (9:30 a.m. EDT/PDT), on Disney Channel, DisneyNOW and Disney Channel VOD. The series hails from comic book creators and brothers Chris and Shane Houghton ('Harvey Beaks') and influenced by their childhood growing up in the small rural town of St. Johns, Michigan, with many of the locations and characters inspired by their real-life family members and townsfolk.

The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra Comes to The Soraya, 4/5


The Grammy-nominated Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, which captures the infectious fun of big band music, will perform at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) on Thursday, April 5 at 8:00pm.  Jazz Times called the Los Angeles-based band, with a 32-year history, "one of current jazz's most vital large ensemble." Co-founder bassist John Clayton is a CSUN alumnus who has gone on to play with superstars such as Michael Jackson, Patti LaBelle and Madonna.
