Serenbe Playhouse continues to explore new and exciting ways of reinventing theatre by setting the angsty, rock musical 'Spring Awakening' in the beautiful and eerie woods of Serenbe. Meet the cast and creative team who will perform and build the world of 'Spring Awakening' at Serenbe Playhouse.

Synchronicity Theatre was teeming with excitement this past Friday evening as Atlanta families gathered in pajamas to watch the opening of the imaginative, high-energy new Family Series production of J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved classic, The Hobbit, a joint venture with Havoc Movement Company. Though the imaginative steam punk costuming by Emmie Thompson is only partly successful, Joel Coady and Barrett Doyle's dynamic unit set, working in tandem with Maranda DeBusk's gorgeous lighting design, sets the perfect stage for the mostly effective ensemble of five actors, including Brooke Owens, who gives a lively and engaging portrayal of unlikely hero Bilbo Baggins.

The Suzi Bass Awards revealed nominations for the 2017-2018 Atlanta professional theatre season on Monday evening, August 27, to patrons and industry artists. The Suzi Nomination Party was generously hosted by Synchronicity Theatre, at 7:30pm, One Peachtree Pointe, 1545 Peachtree St. NE #102, Atlanta.

Atlanta's Synchronicity Theatre will produce the rolling premiere of Jennifer Barclay's new play, Ripe Frenzy. The winner of the 2016 NNPN Smith Prize for Political Theatre, Ripe Frenzy tells the story of a mass shooting in a small American town. Told from multiple points of view, and through the lens of Thornton Wilder's classic play, Our Town, Barclay examines all sides of a tragedy that has ruptured the spirit a once idyllic community. Performances run from April 13 to May 6, 2018.

Georgia Shakespeare co-founder and Artistic Director Richard Garner is directing this love letter to William Shakespeare in his company's former home at Oglethorpe University's Conant Performing Arts Center while the Alliance Theatre undergoes a complete renovation. Performances are August 30 - September 24, 2017.  Opening night is Today, September 6. The Suzi Nomination Party was generously hosted by the Alliance Theatre, at 6:30pm in The Circle Room, on the third floor, 1280 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, Georgia, 30309. 

With a tiny black box space, this hole-in-the-wall theatre is easy to overlook, but the same cannot be said for the magnitude of its production, directed by Richard Garner.

Julian Verner directs The Spins, a play with music by local writer and musician Sara Crawford, which weaves a haunting tale of unimaginable loss. Lynn (Kathrine Barnes), a musician, nurses wounds both old and new- the death of her brother Riley and the more recent loss of love. Unable to escape even in her sleep, Lynn's grief plays out on two planes of existence. As her best friend Melissa (Chelsea Steverson) tries to intervene in reality, Dream Lynn (Jessie Kuipers) is imprisoned with the uncomfortable memories that Lynn cannot process. Her drunken, emotional vertigo is underscored throughout by the spinning of a record on a turntable, one of her only remaining connections to her brother.
