Charlotte's Web, E.B. White's award-winning children's story, will weave its way into the REP as its first show of the 2009-2010 Season. The show opens September 12, 2009 and runs until October 11, 2009.

Charlotte's Web is a timeless story about the unexpected friendship between Wilbur the pig and Charlotte the spider. In attempt to save Wilbur's life, Charlotte spins webs in hopes of attracting visitors to come and marvel at "Some Pig." Charlotte's brave plan carries the animals of Zuckerman's farm, including Templeton the rat, all the way to the county fair. It is at the fair that the fate of Wilbur and Charlotte is discovered. Audiences will surely be caught in Charlotte's web and begging for more!

The REP is excited to bring patrons an exciting opening day experience this year with our Opening Bash. This event will take place after performances of Charlotte's Web at 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm on Saturday, September 12, 2009. Join us at the country fair, in honor of Charlotte's Web, and enjoy free face painting, cotton candy, bounce house, arts and crafts and other fair activities. When you pick-up your tickets for either of the opening day performances, you will receive a voucher to attend the opening bash. You must turn in the voucher for entrance into the opening bash. The International Academy of Design and Technology, Orlando Campus, designed the lobby displays for Charlotte's Web.

Director Claud Smith says, "Bringing a classic children's book like Charlotte's Web to the stage is both a great opportunity and a daunting responsibility. The sheer difference in size between a spider and a pig makes this quite a challenging transition to make with human actors. But we believe that we're up to the task and are excited and expectant that our efforts will be rewarded with a charming and fresh theatrical experience for our audiences". This is Smith's first production with The REP and his past credits include writing, directing, choreographing and staging shows and special events all over the world with companies such as Disney, Nickelodeon, Warner Bros. and Busch Entertainment.

Audiences are also invited to join The REP on Saturday, September 26th at 5:30pm for Sonny's Family Night. The performance of Charlotte's Web will be followed by an enjoyable dinner provided by Sonny's Bar-B-Q. Tickets for Sonny's Family Night, including the show, are $16 for youth (17 and under) and $22 for adults. Ticket upgrades are available for season subscribers for $7. Chicken and Turkey will be served at this Sonny's Family Night.

Charlotte's Web is supported in part by Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital and Baker Hostetler. Show times are Saturdays at 11:00am and 4:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm and 5:00pm. Tickets for the show are $17 for adults, $11 for children and youth (17 and under), and $15 for students and seniors (55 and over). For tickets call the Orlando Repertory Theatre box office at 407-896-7365 ext. 1 or order tickets online by visiting orlandorep.com.

Don't forget to board our pirate ship after seeing Charlotte's Web, with The REP's second production, How I Became a Pirate, running October 11th - November 8th, 2009.
