Mad Cow Theatre is delighted to announce the cast and creative team for the dark comedy Art, opening Jan. 22, 2016 in the Harriett as the fourth production of Mad Cow Theatre's Season 19. This production is sponsored by Harriett Lake.
Written by Yasmina Reza (God of Carnage), Art has been translated from French by Christopher Hampton (Les Liaisons Dangereuses).
Winner of the 1998 Tony Award for best play, Art is set in Paris, where one of three seemingly sophisticated friends is showing off his newest acquisition, a large painting that happens to be entirely white. When the other two question his judgment - Is it worth what it cost? Does it matter who painted it? Is it really art? - the three men find that their friendship is tested to its core.
The cast of Art features Jay T. Becker* (Circle Mirror Transformation, Fully Committed) as Marc, Tommy Keesling (The Philadelphia Story, The History Boys) as Yvan and Thom Mesrobian (You Can't Take It With You, Table Manners) as Serge.
Director Mark Edward Smith (My Name Is Asher Lev, James Joyce's The Dead) continues his long association with Mad Cow Theatre with his staging of Art. Scenic design is by William Elliott, lighting design is by Jerry Klein, sound design is by Robert Carson, costume design is by Aubrey Hess, and props are by Lisa Buck.
