Mad Cow Theatre Announces Cast, Creative Team for THE BROTHERS SIZE
By: Tyler Peterson
Mad Cow Theatre has announced the cast and creative team for the haunting contemporary drama The Brothers Size, which will take the Zehngebot-Stonerock Theatre stage June 10, 2016 as the eighth production of Mad Cow Theatre's Season 19.
Writer Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brothers Size - described by the Chicago Tribune as "the greatest piece of writing by a playwright under 30 in a generation or more" - combines modern rhythms with age-old West African myths to tell the story of Size brothers: the hard-working Ogun, an auto mechanic, and the aimless Oshoosi, a recent parolee. When Oshoosi's prison-mate Elegba brings complications into their lives, The Brothers Size becomes a tale that explores the impermanence of freedom and the need to belong somewhere, to something, to someone. McCraney is a Florida native who graduated from Miami's New World School of the Arts. He received the Cole Porter Playwriting Award at the Yale School of Drama in 2007, the year The Brothers Size received its world premiere at New York's Public Theater. McCraney, whose plays also have been produced at Steppenwolf Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Court, became a member of the Steppenwolf ensemble in 2010.Students receive a $7 discount with ID.
