Florida Theatrical Association Presents Check to Orlando; City Nets Profit in 2011-12 Broadway Season

On Monday Florida Theatrical Association's President/CEO, Ron Legler, presented Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the City of Orlando with a check for $142,157.77. The check represents the city's share of the presenting profit from the 2011-2012 Broadway season.

"I'm proud to say that in our 24 year partnership with the City of Orlando, the city has never lost one dollar in presenting touring Broadway," said Legler.

Next year Florida Theatrical Association will be celebrating their 25th season of presenting Broadway in Orlando, and the company is working with its title sponsor, FAIRWINDS Credit Union, and the Executive Director of Orlando Venues, Allen Johnson, to plan an exciting Broadway season.

"Our 2013-2014 season will not only be FTA's 25th Anniversary celebration, but it will also be our last season presented at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre," Legler explained. "We hope to make next year's season our best yet to celebrate the many wonderful years at the Bob Carr and hopefully a new partnership with the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts as the Broadway presenter when it opens in the fall of 2014."

Florida Theatrical Association (FTA) is the non-profit presenter of Broadway in Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Miami. FTA was founded with the charge of educating and developing new theater audiences and encouraging and preserving the presentation of touring Broadway Theater. Since 1989 Florida Theatrical Association has presented over 1,000 Broadway performances and distributed over $1.5 million in scholarships and grants to arts organizations across the state of Florida.
