Florida Rep Opens OTHER DESERT CITIES 3/15

By:

Florida Repertory Theatre has announced the opening of a multiple Tony-nominee and Pulitzer Prize finalist,Other Desert Cities. This powerful, witty and electrifying drama by Jon Robin Baitz plays March 15-April 6 with previews March 12, 13 and 14.

One of the hottest plays in America right now,Other Desert Cities is a searing portrait of one family in crisis.

"Every year there is one play that's just been on Broadway that all the regional theatres want to produce," said Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo, "and this year that play is Other Desert Cities. This play is funny, powerful, intelligent and incredibly moving. It really is the hottest new play in America, and we are so looking forward to sharing it with you."

After years of absence, Brook Wyeth returns home for Christmas for an anything-but-joyful reunion. When Brooke announces that she's about to publish a memoir that exposes her family's dark history, she forces her loved ones to confront their demons, relive their tragic past and reveal their deepest secrets.

Other Desert Cities features an all-star line up of Florida Rep favorites sinking their teeth into a rich story, beautifully complicated characters, and a deftly written script. The cast features Florida Rep Ensemble Members Rachel Burttram, Carrie Lund, WilLiam McNulty and Sara Morsey, as well as Eric Mendenhall who is making his second appearance with Florida Rep in this play.

Both Burttram and Lund have been seen extensively with the Rep over it's 15-year history, most recently appearing in Miracle on South Division Street, and McNulty appears after a run in Florida Rep's ArtStage Studio Theatre earlier this year in Time Stands Still. Ms. Morsey returns to the Arcade stage after a nationally acclaimed run in this season's The Little Foxes.

Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo (Camping with Henry & Tom), directs the play, and is joined by an expert team of Florida Rep's Ensemble of designers. Richard Crowell (Talley's Folly) designs the set, a lavish Palm Springs living room, Todd O. Wren (Lend Me a Tenor) designs the lights and Roberta Malcolm (The Little Foxes) is the costume designer. The sound designer is Kate Smith (Lend Me a Tenor) and Janine Wochna (Time Stands Still) stage manages.
