BWW Student Blogs: Logan Explores Disney World

By:

It's hard to believe that I've officially been living in Orlando, Florida, working in Disney World for two and a half weeks. I am just now writing about my first few weeks in Disney because when a college student participates in the Disney College Program (DCP) they barely have time to breathe. Don't think I hate being busy, because I absolutely love it. I just did not realize that everything keeps moving when in Walt Disney World.

My first week living in an apartment and completing all the necessary paperwork to become an official cast member was exciting, thrilling, and sometimes boring. Overall, those days allowed me to transition slowly into this new lifestyle, and I have to say it's a lot of fun. Yes, there were times when I missed my family, my home, my pets, but that was when I reminded myself why I came to Disney: to have the experience of a lifetime.

At the end of Week One, I, along with several hundred other college students, received our nametags and ID cards, making us official Disney World cast members. So many emotions ran through us, but I felt blessed. Blessed to have this opportunity that doesn't come along every day. Once we learned more about the Walt Disney World Company, I knew this is the place that I need to be. This place could potentially jumpstart my entertainment career. How amazing is that?

The next week was Entertainment training. I cannot go into much detail about my training, but I can say it was the most incredible, memorable part of my DCP thus far. There was much to do, to learn, to memorize in a short amount of time, but with the help of the best Disney trainers I've had, my training team and I passed and now we get to be part of the Disney Entertainment family!!

I know that my new Entertainment family are people who I will be friends with for a very long time. These students possess the same qualities that I do, and we are all here because we love to perform and to create magic.

As of right now, I have a jam packed schedule, which excites me and scares me at the same time. I know that I will keep going to the parks and visiting my friends at work as much as I can; this is just the beginning. I cannot wait to see where my role at Disney will take me. Here's to hoping this will be the journey of a lifetime.
