The Omaha Community Playhouse will produce Next to Normal, tonight, Feb. 7-March 16, 2014. Next to Normal features music by Tom Kitt and book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and Amy Lane.
The 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama winner, Next to Normal is a deeply moving rock musical and raw account of a family dealing with mental illness, tragedy and the realities of modern society. An overly medicated mother tries to cope with bipolar disorder as her family struggles to maintain normalcy in their suburban home for her sanity and their own. A hard-driving rock score with tear-inducing ballads make this show unlike any other. Gripping and heart- wrenchingly real, Next to Normal is groundbreaking Contemporary Theatre.
