The Fear You Enact at Chain Theater

Shatter The Glass Productions and Nashley Tisdale Productions invite audiences to a staged reading of a brand-new play: The Fear You Enact, or How I Learned to Stop Coping and Let Anxiety Takeover!

Set in 1953 at the height of McCarthyism, The Fear You Enact follows a world where people are kept under constant watch - where if you’re a Communist, a Pinko, or a Queer, you don’t share America’s values.

This dark political drama centers on everyday people striving to find joy and live their lives in the underbelly of Washington, D.C. But when disaster strikes, their lives are turned upside down, and everyone is in more danger than they realize.

CONTENT WARNING: This production contains adult language and situations, adultery, moments of homophobia and transphobia, suicide, and simulated violence.

Written by Nash Johns (STG Spotlight Series Guest Producer) and directed by Graydon Gund, with Treshelle Edmond (Glee, Master of None, Deaf West’s Spring Awakening) serving as Director of Interpreting, The Fear You Enact will be presented at the Brick Studio Theatre at the Chain Theatre on May 16 at 2 pm and 7:30 pm and May 17 at 2 pm (ASL-interpreted performance).

The cast of The Fear You Enact features Ida Mihok, Stephanie Greenwood, Bailor Allen, Angela (Antione) Gray Jr., Ashlyn Baralt, Carlos Golde, Josh Ryan, Michael DeRosa, J.P. Gates, and Connor Van Deman, with stage directions performed by David William Klak. The production also features choreography by Rosie Corr.

This staged reading is produced by Adriana Nocco and Emily J. Whalen on behalf of Shatter The Glass Productions, and by Nash Johns on behalf of Nashley Tisdale Productions. Associate producers include Henry Dougherty and Christian Scofield.

The Fear You Enact is being presented as part of the Factory Series at the Brick Studio Theatre at the Chain Theatre.
