Live from The Bronx Music Hall, Infinite Variety Productions presents The Arena, a new re-imagined documentary radio play recorded in front of a live audience.
In 1938, a closed congressional hearing shut down the Federal Theatre Project, the New Deal program that put thousands of out-of-work artists back to work. The Arena gives those artists their day in court. Inside the dream of an out-of-work composer, the hearing room becomes an arena, part vaudeville stage and part gladiator pit, where the artists fight for their lives by performing.
Featuring an original score by Shira Bouskila, followed by a post-show talkback. What is art worth, and what do we owe the people who make it?
