Spotlight Repertory Theatre Presents Into the Woods 

Staten Island, NY — [February 3, 2026] — Spotlight Repertory Theatre presents Stephen  Sondheim & James Lapine Tony Award-winning masterpiece, Into the Woods, running  February 6, 7, 13, and 14 at 7:00 PM, and February 8 and 15 at 3:00 PM, at The Staten  Island Playhouse at Empire Outlets, 55 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island. 

Into the Woods brings together familiar fairy-tale figures—Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood,  Jack, Rapunzel, and others—only to complicate their stories and question the idea of “happily  ever after.” What begins as a witty reimagining of childhood tales gradually unfolds into a  meditation on responsibility, consequence, and the ways individuals shape—and are shaped by— their communities. 

Under the direction of Jacques Stewart, assistant by Meggan Herod, with Emily Croome as  music director, and Mary Lee Aloia as producing director, this production embraces Sondheim  and Lapine’s score and text with clarity and simplicity, letting the words and music lead the way.  With equal attention to humor and heart, the creative team brings focus to the emotional truth  and human consequences at the core of the story.

Through an ensemble-driven performance and an emphasis on musical storytelling, Spotlight  Repertory Theatre’s Into the Woods invites audiences to engage with a work that remains as  resonant today as when it was first written—challenging, funny, and quietly profound.
