Terri Mateer, former basketball star and model, teams up with Downtown Community Television Center to bring her critically acclaimed one-woman show A KIND SHOT, to its theatre located at
The DCTV Firehouse, a gothic landmark in Lower Manhattan built circa 1895. It will be filmed by the documentarians at DCTV's PRO-TV, which is a free media arts training program for NYC youth. PRO-TV provides positive, creative outlets for young people to address issues affecting their lives and their communities. Students pitch ideas, rotate production roles, and interact with local community members. As participants progress through the filmmaking process, they develop skills in team-building, leadership, and public speaking. Youth producers raise their voices
within their communities and create films that matter.

Performance is free & open to the public and will be recorded by their students.

In A KIND SHOT, 6’1” blonde spitfire Terri Mateer tells her life story of becoming a pro basketball player in France. Raised by a single, hippie mom, an African American surrogate father steps in and teaches Terri how to play the game. Clearing six feet in sixth grade, she’s a natural, but dreams of becoming an architect. Terri's unbelievable journey includes playing pro ball, modeling, stripping, designing
Michael Jordan’s headboard, and taking lots of shots at life.

The play contains adult language. Talk-back after each performance.
