New York City-based classical dance company Tom Gold Dance will present its annual spring season, Wednesday, April 3 and Thursday, April 4, 2019 at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College. The new season will include a World Premiere by Tom Gold Dance Founder and Director Tom Gold to music of Leonard Bernstein and the New York City Premiere of Gold's Blind Revelry to Stephen Sondheim's rarely performed Concertino for two pianos. Additional work by Gold will be announced at a later date.

A 2018 commission of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston in connection with the restoration of the Museum's Farnese Sarcophagus, Blind Revelry is a contemporary reimaging of the chance encounter of Dionysus and Ariadne on the island of Naxos.

Concertino, composed by Sondheim in 1949 as a student at Williams College, was never performed publicly until it was rediscovered in 2001, when it was presented as an orchestral arrangement. For Blind Revelry, Gold uses the original two-piano version.

The World Premiere will be set to select Anniversaries for solo piano, marking the first time Gold choreographs to the music of Bernstein.

Blind Revelry and the new work will both be performed to live accompaniment.

"Our spring season is such a critical part of our annual performance activity. We are thrilled to be back at the Kaye, not only to introduce our home audience to new work we believe will be some of our most ambitious to date, but also to solidify our programmatic momentum and artistic consistency by returning to the stage so much sooner than ever before with the launch of our fall season last November."

In addition to the remaining work, the Company will announce the complete artist roster, including both pianists, at a later date.
