Theatre for the New City Presents THERE'S SOMETHING I NEED TO TELL YOU, 6/6

By:

Theater for the New City, Crystal Field, Executive Artistic Director and Holly-Anne Ruggiero for Impulse Theatre, proudly present a concert reading of THERE'S SOMETHING I NEED TO TELL YOU, the new musical comedy with Book and Lyrics by Robert Stroizer (Editor and Chief, World and Grand) and Music and Lyrics by Barbara Hustedt Crook (Senior Editor, Cosmopolitan) on Monday, June 6th at 7pm at Theatre For A New City.

The Concert Reading will feature the talents of Broadway performers Chris Hoch (La Cage Aux Folles, Shrek), Patti Murin (Lysistrata Jones, Xanadu), Kristy Cates (Wicked), Christopher Kale Jones (Jersey Boys), Jenna Coker-Jones (Little Shop of Horrors) and Miles Aubrey (Jersey Boys). The concert is directed by Nick Brennan, (Berenstein Bears Tour) with musical direction by Ferdy Tumakaka (New York Theatre Ballet) and is line produced by Holly-Anne Ruggiero (Jersey Boys) for Impulse Theatre.

THERE'S SOMETHING I NEED TO TELL YOU follows six Manhattan singles on their adventures to find the perfect mate, or at least the perfect person to spend the night with. Well fortified by a couple of drinks, Barry (Chris Hoch) is dragging his feet en route to discussing living together with a longtime girlfriend, and he pauses in front of a Broadway theater to eye an attractive woman who's clearly meeting someone else (Patti Murin). He takes it upon himself to become that "someone else" and will play the role for as long as he can. Once Barry has set his wacky plan in motion the complications in this modern-day Midsummer Night's Dream just keep multiplying as the six New York singles doggedly look for-or look to avoid-love.

Robert Strozier has assisted in launching five national magazines, served as editor-in-chief of two, World and Grand, and, along the way, worked at the Ford Foundation in India, written ad copy, and churned out jokes for Joan Rivers. His fiction and non-fiction have appeared in numerous publications including Atlantic Monthly, Esquire, The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times Book Review, and Saturday Review.

Barbara Hustedt Crook has been a senior editor at Cosmopolitan, written for magazines including Cosmo, Reader's Digest, Redbook, and Woman's Day, and is now a regular contributor to Woman's World--she's never stopped hearing the music, as witnessed by gigs along the way as a church soloist and radio deejay, where she honed her knack for spotting a catchy tune.

Theatre For The New City is located at 155 First Avenue New York, NY 10003. Reservations are required in advance. For a reservation please contact TellMeNow2011@gmail.com. For more information about the concert and the piece please go to www.theressomethingineedtotellyou.com.
