New Stage Theatre Co To Have Open Cast Party For 'Intimate Exchange' 8/1
By: Faetra Petillo
The producers of the international Next Stage Theatre Company announced Monday their plans to have an Open Cast Party to celebrate Next Stage's New York City debut. The party will be on Friday, August 1st immediately following a 6:30 performance of Alan Ayckbourn's Intimate Exchanges at the Midtown International Theatre Festival. Complimentary beer and wine will be served and audience members will be encouraged to mingle with the British Cast and Crew.
Intimate Exchanges is directed by Next Stage Artistic Director and Founder Ann Garner. The play features UK actors Kay Francksen and Andrew Ellison. Sir Alan Ayckbourn has especially close links with Ann Garner's Next Stage Theatre Company: "That all started when Ann and her company came up to Scarborough and performed. I met them afterwards and was very impressed with the imagination and adventurous nature of the whole company. They asked me to be patron and I said, "Yes!" It's not something that I usually do." Sir Alan Ayckbourn, The Bath ChronicleIntimate Exchanges is a superb example of Ayckbourn's brilliant craftsmanship and renowned ability to intrigue and challenge his audience. Trapped in a sterile marriage, Celia seeks solace elsewhere, but her desire to escape from the humdrum is not as straightforward or rewarding as she hopes. The testosterone-charged odd-job man, Lionel, seems a highly attractive proposition for the love-starved Celia. However her antics threaten to increase the stress levels of her suspicious husband Toby, whilst Lionel's long-suffering partner, Sylvie, is reaching the end of her tether. For tickets and show times please visit www.midtownfestival.org
