The acclaimed New York-based dance and performance group FREEFALL is proud to present "lie, lay, laid", a new dance show choreographed and performed by Artistic Co-Directors Lynn Brown and Lynn Marie Ruse. lie, lay, laid will play Thursday, June 12 - Sunday, June 15 at walkerspace (46 Walker Street).

In "lie, lay, laid" audiences are given the opportunity to observe intimate physical acts at a distance by sitting above a sunken stage and looking down upon a grid, stacks of mattresses and four dancers. In this world premiere, dancers arrange and rearrange themselves upon twin mattresses, framing the relationship of bodies while complicating efforts to smoothly negotiate choreography. The mattresses transform an abstract physical construction of bodies wrapping around one another into an emotionally powerful narrative. This context is the emotional heart of the piece -- a kinesthetic connection to home, sleep, and sex. "lie, lay, laid" will feature set design by architect Illya Azaroff, lighting design by Jay Ryan, and an original score by Ljova Zhurbin, which will be performed live by Zhurbin's ensemble "Ljova and the Kontraband".

Lynn Brown (Artistic Co-Director/Choreographer/Dancer) holds his MFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He has performed nationally and internationally with Keely Garfield, Pooh Kaye, Jody Oberfelder-Reihm, and Victoria Marks. His work has been presented extensively in the Chicago area and in New York at PS122, Mulberry Street Theater, and on various community groups throughout the city. Brown is a Teaching Artist in Dance for the Lincoln Center Institute and the Orchestra of St. Lukes.

Lynn Marie Ruse (Artistic Co-Director/Choreographer/Dancer) holds a Professional Diploma from the Laban Centre in London and an MFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. She has performed with Henry Montes in London, The Moving Company in Florida (Site-Specific Theater), Clarinda MacLow, Aiden Teker, Athena Malloy, and Rebecca Moore in NYC. Ruse choreographed Moving Company productions such as Mac Wellman's Why the Y in Ybor?, Alyse Rothman's Nerve Ensemble's production of Phenomenon, and her choreography has been presented by Dance Force (Hechscher State Park and the World Trade Center), The Florida Dance Festival, The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, and Wave Hill. Ruse is a Teaching Artist in Dance for Lincoln Center, the Orchestra of St. Lukes, an occasional costume designer, and a Vinyasa yoga instructor.
