The Seeing Place Theater, known for intensely intimate ensemble work, announces casting for Harold Pinter’s The Lover, a "bizarre theatrical evening" of lust, cunning, and costumes) paired with John Patrick Shanley's Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, a brutal and romantic story of "Beauty and the Beast in the Bronx." Both shows are running in true repertory: same cast, design concept, and creative team, for 2 total hours of compelling programming.

Erin Cronican (National Tour: Suds, The Rockin' 60s Musical Soap Opera, 1st Revival: Subways Are For Sleeping) stars in the dual roles of Sarah and Roberta, and Brandon Walker (The Seeing Place's Look Back in Anger and Waiting for Lefty) tackles the roles of Richard and Danny, in this unprecedented, doubleheader event. Ariel Francoeur directs this series, with dialect direction by David Sedgwick. Also in the cast is Ned Baker Lynch (The Seeing Place's Three Sisters.)

About The Lover: How far will you go to spice up your marriage? Do you need to go outside of it to get the fulfillment you need? And what happens when you cross the line? In Pinter's quintessential dark and stormy bedroom farce, he examines a husband, a wife, her lover, and the coping mechanisms people use to survive the seven year itch. “Some people claim that marriage interferes with romance. There's no doubt about it. Anytime you have a romance, your wife is bound to interfere." - Groucho Marx

About Danny and the Deep Blue Sea: A man and a woman, both lonely outcasts, meet in a bar - in desperate need of a change. He is violent and possibly homicidal, she is tormented and possibly suicidal; each is transformed by the love of the other. The New York Times suggested the play would be more appropriately titled, "The Beast and the Beast". If so, this is the story of two beasts fighting to accept beauty into their lives. "One word frees us of all the weight and pain in life. That word is love." - Sophocles

The design team includes Michael Minahan (sets), Preesa Adeline Bullington (costumes), Sara Gosses (lights) and Sean Demers (sound/original music.) Additional fight choreography by Teddy Lytle.

The show has a limited engagement July 27-August 12, 2012 (Wed-Sat: 7pm, Sat-Sun: 2pm) at The Seeing Place @ATA's Sargent Theater. Tickets are available by calling SmartTix at (212)868-4444 (Ask for The Lover) Tickets are $12, or see both shows for only $20. For more information visit www.seeingplacetheater.com.
