Dialogue With Three Chords Present WELCOME TO THE APOCALYPSE SURVIVORS CLUB For Their Spring Season

Dialogue with Three Chords (D3C) will present WELCOME TO THE APOCALYPSE SURVIVORS CLUB as they continue their eighth year producing independent theatre in lower Manhattan. The series of short performances, written by Stephen Gracia and directed by Michael LoPorto, centers on a self-help group for people trying to accept that the end of the world didn't arrive.

The first installment of the series, which will form the spring 2019 season of D3C, premieres at 8pm on Thursday, February 21, downstairs at Von Bar on 3 Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10012. Admission is free.

WELCOME TO THE APOCALYPSE SURVIVORS CLUB takes a D3C play previously staged in 2017, The Apocalypse Survivors Club, and breaks it apart. Gracia explained that D3C will merge re-written scenes from that play with monologues featuring characters from When I Dream, I See Strange Men , a D3C collection of alien abduction monologues first staged in 2012.

Gracia described WELCOME TO THE APOCALYPSE SURVIVORS CLUB as a collection of plays and monologues, that finds familiar D3C characters in new settings with new cosmologies, fears, and alien abductions.

This will allow for new explorations on the original theme of a self-help group for recovering apocalypse obsessives, a process that LoPorto expects will help the original play to further develop in a unique fashion. I'm really stoked to see some familiar characters in unfamiliar settings with new circumstances all jumbled together, said the D3C co-founder and director. I love these characters and we'll get the chance to spend some more time with them. I think this will lead to some exciting evenings.

Gracia and LoPorto co-founded D3C at Mr. Dennehy's in 2011. Previous D3C shows have featured musicians, poets, and burlesque performers. They've also partnered with local independent theatre groups such as BrooklynONE to produce innovative and challenging free theatre to New York City.
