Cheeyang Ng's LEGENDARY to Play One-Night-Only Event at Berklee Power Station
Directed by Emilio Ramos, the Cheeyang Ng musical blends Chinese mythology and queer identity.
Cheeyang Ng, recipient of the Fred Ebb Award, the Princess Grace Award, and the Jonathan Larson Award, will present a one-night-only special event of their solo ritual musical LEGENDARY on June 2, 2026 at Berklee Power Station in New York City.
Blending Chinese mythology, memory and queer legacy, LEGENDARY is a life-affirming tale of queer joy and identity. Through communal song, they explore their relationship with family, tradition and the stories that have shaped them, but never reflected them. A global internet sensation, Legendary doesn't just tell a story: it invites the audience to create one. Directed by Emilio Ramos (3 time Drama Desk nominee for See What I Wanna See, Associate Director of Tony Award winning Maybe Happy Ending and Hadestown).
Originally developed by MTF (Musical Theatre Factory) and supported by the Lortel Theatre's 121 Project, the evening offers audiences an exclusive opportunity to be in the room for the live recording of upcoming singles from the show. The first single, "In the Beginning," has already garnered millions of views across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, establishing LEGENDARY as one of the most buzzed-about new works in musical theatre. Experience tickets go on sale Saturday, May 23 at 10:00 AM ET at legendarymusical.com.
LEGENDARY was featured at the ASCAP Foundation's Musical Theatre Workshop in Los Angeles, where it received numerous accolades from industry leaders. Jay Dyer, former executive of Walt Disney Feature Animation, calls the finale "one of the greatest moments [they] have ever seen on a stage." The musical has also been recognized as a finalist for The Relentless Award and the Richard Rodgers Award.
Previews of LEGENDARY as part of 59E59 Theaters' East to Edinburgh festival sold out in 48 hours. LEGENDARY will make its premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe this summer, running August 5 to 31 at Underbelly's Bistro Square with daily performances at 3:35 PM (except August 17).
