When she was a young girl, Candice Guardin wrote down every memorable saying her loving and outspoken grandmother uttered. Now, her grandmother's brash and bold wisdom has served as the inspiration for S.O.S. “Spaghetti or Starbuxs,” Candice’s funny, moving (and reasonably raunchy) one-woman show about “Growing up Guardin.” The show, which delves into the life of the spunky native New Yorker who grew up in Staten Island, will have a two-performance run at the intimate Triad Theater on the Upper West Side in January on 1/9 and 1/10 (both shows at 9pm).

S.O.S. will feature direction from David Alpert (who served as Assistant Director with Michael Grief with the premiere of Tony Kushner’s The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide… at The Guthrie and was a part of the directing team with Des McAnuff on Guys & Dolls on Broadway). S.O.S. will also feature musical direction from Grammy Award-nominee David Dabbon (for Sondheim on Sondheim) who has also served as conductor/arranger/orchestrator for the Richard Rodgers Awards and the Gene Kelly Awards. S.O.S. is produced by Thomas Howard.

A true triple threat performer, in S.O.S. Candice will use her dynamic voice, superb comedic timing and innate storytelling abilities (as well as actual home videos) to take the audience on an unforgettable journey through her unpredictable life. From hilarious and heartfelt familial impressions to tales from the career of an up and coming performer, nothing is off limits in S.O.S. as Candice tackles everything from getting her first period to her first celebrity crush to offering hilarious and entertaining re-mixes of a few classic tunes (with her own brand of comedy stamped on it loud and clear!).

Candice is also the great niece of famed 50’s and 60’s actor Harry Guardino, who was Tony-nominated for his role in One More River and also co-starred opposite Cary Grant and Sophia Loren in Houseboat and appeared in Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry.

S.O.S. will play at The Triad (158 West 72nd Street) with 9pm performances on Monday, January 9th and Tuesday, January 10th. Tickets, priced at $10, can be bought online at www.BrownPaperTickets.com or by phone at 800-838-3006. There is also a one-drink minimum at each performance.
