Vineyard Theatre announced today the extension of the world premiere of CHECKERS, a play by Academy Award nominated writer Douglas McGrath (Bullets Over Broadway), directed by Terry Kinney (Reasons To Be Pretty, After Ashley), through Sunday, December 2.

CHECKERS features Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Anthony LaPaglia (A View From the Bridge, "Without A Trace") as Richard Nixon and Tony nominee Kathryn Erbe (Speed of Darkness, "Law and Order: Criminal Intent") as Pat Nixon.

It’s 1952. A young Richard Nixon is campaigning as his party’s candidate for Vice-President - his wife, Pat, proudly at his side - when an accusation of financial impropriety almost ends his promising career. In a momentous speech, he takes charge of his fate, and changes the character of American politics forever. CHECKERS is a revelatory look at Nixon’s drive, history, and most surprisingly, his marriage to Pat – all of which are explored with insight, blistering wit and unexpected tenderness.

The cast of CHECKERS also includes Kelly Coffield Park, Joel Marsh Garland, Kevin O'Rourke, John Ottavino, Mark Shanahan, Lewis J. Stadlen and Robert Stanton.

The creative team for CHECKERS includes Neil Patel (scenic design), Sarah J. Holden (costume design), David Weiner (lighting design), Rob Milburn & Michael Bodeen (music and sound design), and Darrel Maloney (projection design).

Now scheduled through December 2nd, CHECKERS performs Tuesdays at 7 p.m., Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 3 p.m.

The week of Thanksgiving (November 19 – November 25) CHECKERS will perform Tuesday at 7 p.m., Wednesday at 3 p.m. & 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. There are no performances on Monday, November 19 or Thursday, November 22.

Tickets are $20-$75 (Premium tickets are $100) and can be purchased by calling The Vineyard box office at 212-353-0303 or online at www.vineyardtheatre.org. Rush tickets are available for $20 two hours prior to curtain on the day of the performance, based on availability, cash only, limit two per person.
