PBS' 'CINEMA NOMAD Cinema Nomad' Season Two Premiere to Screen at Urban Stages
Following the screening, a brief discussion with Cinema Nomad’s creator and host Stephanie Gardner and cinematographer Duprelon Tizdale will take place.
Urban Stages will host the New York Premiere of Cinema Nomad, the acclaimed arts and travel series airing on PBS and returning for a second season with extended one-hour episodes.
The special free evening begins at 7pm on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Urban Stages, where the first episode of season two, “Zimbabwe” with award-winning filmmakers Charles and Thandiwe Mawungwa, will be screened along with bonus behind-the-scenes materials. Following the screening, a brief discussion with Cinema Nomad’s creator and host Stephanie Gardner and cinematographer Duprelon Tizdale will be moderated by a special guest. A champagne toast will end the night.
Cinema Nomad is an arts and culture-focused travel series that explores various nations through the lens of the country’s cinematic past, present, and future. In each episode, viewers go on a journey around the world through the eyes and experiences of filmmakers from a diverse set of backgrounds, delving into their day-to-day lives, hopes, dreams, and desires. The series is ultimately about curiosity, empathy, connection, and the universal power of storytelling to bridge cultures and deepen understanding.
The first season of Cinema Nomad (now available on PBS+ Passport) featured filmmakers from Turkiye, Romania, Iceland, Uzbekistan, Ghana, Brazil, Cuba, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Uganda, Cambodia, Mexico, Egypt, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Following the success of Season One, Season Two will platform more filmmakers from around the world with extended one-hour episodes.
