ZOMBIE PROM: ATOMIC EDITION - NexGen Youth Theatre

Ripley-Grier Studios, NYC, Sunday October 7th, 10am

NexGen Youth Theatre is excited to announce open auditions for their Mainstage musical production of Zombie Prom: Atomic Edition, performed Off-Broadway at the renowned Vineyard’s Dimson Theatre (original home to Broadway shows Avenue Q, The Scottsboro Boys, [title of show], The Lyons, and Indecent).

This girl-loves-ghoul rock and roll musical is set in the atomic 1950s at Enrico Fermi High, where the law is laid down by a zany, tyrannical principal. Pretty senior Toffee has fallen for class bad boy Jonny, but family pressure forces her to end the romance. Heartbroken, Jonny charges off on his motorcycle towards the nuclear waste dump. He returns glowing and determined to reclaim Toffee's heart!

This production will be led by NexGen co-founders Bethany Dellapolla and Magnus Tonning Riise, who bring with them experience working with over 50 schools and theatre companies. Before joining forces, their student success stories included students booking and receiving callbacks for roles on Broadway, national tours, regional theatre, television, film, and commercials.

NexGen Youth Theatre believes in a strong connection between learning from experienced educators and seasoned theatre professionals. They seek to offer programming that is creative, professional, and in-depth for aspiring theatre artists in everything they do. With Zombie Prom, they are providing young talent the exciting opportunity to perform on an Off-Broadway stage, rehearse the show in a professional working environment, get insight into the casting and rehearsal process, and work with other professional theatre artists.

Testimonials:

Ms. Bethany is an amazing teacher! I learned so much from her about how to act… She is kind and patient, and really cares about her students. She has an amazing sense of humor, and it was a joy to be in class with her!” – Alexandra Vlachos (Matilda in Matilda the Musical, Broadway)

I did the 10-week showcase semester in the fall of 2017 and it was an amazing experience. Between being coached individually on solo pieces and working with a larger ensemble, the class helped me develop a balanced, well-rounded skill set, and I have learned more about myself as a musical theatre artist. Bethany and Magnus are nurturing, supportive, and truly care about helping each and every person in the class perform to their fullest. I definitely grew as a performer and became more comfortable with Ripley-Grier Studios and the professional MT world over those ten weeks, and I owe it to the care that they put into working with everyone in the class. NexGen is a haven in the chaos that is Ripley, and I highly recommend this class to anyone interested.” – Eliana Kavouriadis (BFA Theatre Performance and Honors Student, Emerson College)
