Seeking Actors and Singers for a new musical!

Acting Out Productions of Newburyport is seeking actors and singers for IT’S STILL A WONDERFUL LIFE, a brand-new musical, a contemporary sequel to the 1946 film. The book and lyrics are written by Jack Neary. Music is by Jon Abrams. Neary will direct.

The story: It’s Christmastime, 2027. Georgia Bishop (nee Bailey), mid-thirties, is Mayor of Bedford Falls, and is also director of the annual Christmas Eve Gala, a performance of songs and dances of the season. As the show opens, Georgia, in rehearsal, is approached by Andrew, a shady person she remembers from her high school days, who delivers an ominous message about a secret from the past that involves her husband. It’s a message that could seriously threaten an enormous grant from the state that would save the town. As the story proceeds, and Andrew’s treacherous scheme grows in intensity, Georgia tries desperately to save Bedford Falls, her marriage, her family and, truthfully, her life. Like her great-grandfather George Bailey in 1946, she is faced with a life-or-death decision to make on Christmas Eve.

Since this premiere production of the show will be presented in modified concert form, manageably scheduled rehearsals will begin late in October. Performances will be presented December 17, 18 and 19 at The Chester H. Hawrylciu Theater at Northern Essex Community College. A number of roles for ALL AGES, lead and supporting, are available, as are roles in our chorus. If you are interested in being considered as a performer in IT’S STILL A WONDERFUL LIFE, please send your resume and photo, and, if you have one, an audio or video recording to advise us of your singing range. Send to jackneary3@gmail.com. Thanks, and please PASS THE WORD!
