MUSIC REQUIREMENTS: Please prepare 32 bars in the style of the show that shows range. You must
bring sheet music in the correct key (we will have the score). A piano accompanist will be provided but
will not transpose. Charts, CD’s and unaccompanied singing are NOT acceptable.

DANCE REQUIREMENTS: Some actors will be taught a short dance combination at the audition, so
please bring clothes to move in and flat jazz shoes. Please come prepared.

PLEASE BRING: A headshot or photo and résumé or list of experience.

ROLES: We are seeking performers – adults and children of all ages - for principal roles and ensemble.
Performers should have dynamic voices, dance/move well and be strong actors. Non-professionals must
speak loudly and clearly.

Character Breakdown
ANNA LEONOWENS Strong-willed, English school teacher who travels to Siam with her
son to assume the duties of tutor to the royal household. British
accent required.
Female, 33-45 yrs old Range: Legit Soprano

THE KING Strong character actor with presence. Must be able to move
gracefully and project royal character. Shaved head NOT
necessary.
Male, 40-60 yrs old Range: Baritone/Bass

LADY THIANG Favorite wife of the King and mother of the Crown Prince. Must
have strong voice and be a strong character actress.
Female, 30-40 Range: Mezzo Soprano

TUPTIM Beautiful high-spirited gift to the King from the Prince of Burma and
doomed lover of Lun Tha.
Female, 15-25 yrs old Range: Soprano

LUN THA Emissary to the Prince of Burma and doomed lover of Tuptim.
Male, 17-27 yrs old Range: Tenor/Baritone

SIR EDWARD RAMSAY Distinguished British statesman and old family friend of Anna.
Male, 35-50 yrs old Range: Non singing

THE KRALAHOME Imposing, right-hand man to and adviser of the King. Strong
character actor required.
Male, 35-65 yrs old Range: Non singing

LOUIS LEONOWENS Anna’s son who accompanies his mother to Siam. Needs to be able
to sing and move.
Male, 10-15 yrs old Range: Altar Boy Vocal

PRINCE CHULALONGKORN Arrogant Crown Prince of Siam and one of Anna’s most vocal
students.
Male, 14-19 yrs old Range: Altar Boy Vocal

CAPTAIN ORTON Seasoned English seafarer who brings Anna to Siam.

THE INTERPRETER Member of the King’s entourage.
