A DAY IN THE DEATH OF JOE EGG - West Coast Players

West Coast Players will hold auditions for a Staged Reading of A DAY IN THE DEATH OF JOE EGG by Peter Nichols on Sunday June 19 and Monday June 20, 2016 at 7 pm.

Director Leo Salerno will be casting 2 men, 3 women & a 10 year old girl for this biting comedy/drama.

Auditions will be cold readings from the script. British Accent required. No performers paid.

Production date is July 2, 2016.

Play Synopsis: A British couple are struggling to save their marriage while trying to raise their only child, a 10 year old girl with severe cerebral palsy. Caring for their daughter has occupied nearly every moment of their lives since her birth, taking a heavy toll on their marriage. Sheila, her mother, gives Josephine as much of a life as she can while husband, Bri, wants the child institutionalized and has begun to entertain chilling fantasies of killing himself and Josephine.

Character Descriptions:
Bri: Male – 33 years old
Shiela: Female 35 years old
Grace: Bri's mother - 50's to 60's
Freddie: Friend of Shiela's – stuffy, 30's to 40's
Pam: Freddie's wife - Bit of an air head, 30's to 40's
Jo: Bri and Sheila’s daughter - not mobile or communicative but pretty, 10 years old
