LIZZIE - Jobsite Theater

Jobsite Theater is looking to assemble a fierce band and cast for LIZZIE: The Musical, a rock and roll account of Lizzie Borden’s life. All members of the show are paid weekly. We are not currently able to offer an AEA contract for this production and politely request that AEA performers not send in materials.

The show runs Oct. 12 – Nov. 6 in the Jaeb Theater at the Straz Center with rehearsals beginning on or around Sep. 12. Rehearsals are weeknights and weekend days. If popularity demands the show may be held over through Nov. 20. For both musicians and cast Jobsite is placing an emphasis on a diversity of representation in terms of ethnicity, physical type, and gender.

The band plays on stage for the duration of the show, this is not a “pit” or “offstage” gig. Preference will be given to musicians with personality and presence. We have already hired Band Leader/Guitar 1 and Drums. We need:

Keys/Vocal Coach: also acts as rehearsal accompanist. Needed 9/12 on.

Cello: Needed 9/26 on.

Guitar 2: Needed 9/26 on.

Bass: Needed 9/26 on.

Actors: we prefer to see everyone at the
Tampa Unified Auditions on June 18. If you are unable to attend Unifieds and still want to be considered please send a headshot, resume, and links to any rock demos to
auditions@jobsitetheater.org no later than June 17. We will schedule appointments as necessary

[LIZZIE BORDEN] Mid 20s to 30s; rock mezzo with strong high belt and head voice. The younger daughter of the Borden household, accused of her father and stepmother’s axe murders. Damaged and twisted, can turn on a dime from fragile, broken, meek and obedient to conniving, sinister, furious, and terrifying.

[ALICE RUSSELL] Mid 20s to late 30s; pop/rock soprano with strong mix. Lizzie’s next door neighbor who visits frequently. Seductive and secretive, with an almost maternal tenderness in her affections for Lizzie.

[EMMA BORDEN] Late 20s to late 30s; rock alto/mezzo belt. Lizzie’s older sister. Resentful of her father’s marriage to his second wife and his financial support of her family. Protective, outspoken, and commanding. Furious, but also desperately sad.

[BRIDGET SULLIVAN] Late 20s to mid 30s; rock mezzo. The Borden family maid of several years and occasional show narrator. Irish; speaks and sings in dialect. Clever with a dry and dark sense of humor. A rock and roll nihilist. Not much gets past her.
