Audition Requirements: Stage Door Inc. Center for Performing Arts and Education, is casting between 10 and 15 actors, singers, and dancers. This show is rated “R” due to adult content and themes. No one under the age of 18 will be permitted to audition unless prior arrangements have been made with the directors. PLEASE PREPARE A SONG IN THE STYLE OF THE SHOW! (ROCK MUSICAL) • Please be dressed appropriately for a dance combination. (DO NOT ATTEND IN COSTUME) -this show requires lots of dance, and body movement and contact. Director's Casting Note: Those planning to audition please know that this show is a highly technical show and contains the use of a lot of stage blood so come prepared to get down and dirty! The level of comedy is very difficult looking for cast members that have great timing and understanding of physical comedy! The Story: Based on Sam Raimi’s 80s cult classic films,) Evil Dead: The Musical tells the tale of 5 college kids who travel to a cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an evil force. And although it may sound like a horror, its not! The songs are hilariously campy and the show is bursting with more farce than a Monty Python skit. ) Evil Dead: The Musical unearths the old familiar story: boy and friends take a weekend getaway at abandoned cabin, boy expects to get lucky, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into Candarian Demons, boy fights until dawn to survive. As musical mayhem descends upon this sleepover in the woods, “camp” takes on a whole new meaning with uproarious numbers like “All the Men in my Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons,” “Look Who’s Evil Now” and “Do the Necronomicon.” WARNING – Evil Dead is NOT a musical suitable for children. It contains strong language and violence. Rated R. ALL

ROLES AVAILABLE:
Ash (male, tenor/baritone) – Strong, lantern-jawed, a little reckless, in love with Linda, develops more cartoon superhero tendencies as the show progresses.
Linda (female, mezzo-soprano) – Ash’s girlfriend, loyal, in love, also strong, becomes nasty as a demon. Cheryl (female, mezzo-soprano) – Ash’s sister, book smart for now, hyperactive, pun-laden demon later. Scott (male, tenor/baritone): Ash’s best friend, a stereotypical jock/frat boy. Sexually overcharged – becomes a flashy, obnoxious demon later. Shelly (female, mezzo-soprano): Scott’s new girlfriend, an absolute airhead. Professor Raymond Knoby (voice only): A professor of Ancient History, found the Necronomicon Ex Mortis (aka “The Book of the Dead”). Annie (female, mezzo-soprano – may be double cast with Shelly): Daughter of Professor Knoby, also an expert in Ancient History. Very know-it-all, very ‘librarian sexy’. Ed (male, tenor/baritone) – Annie’s beleaguered and overpowered boyfriend, presumably also an academic – walks in everyone’s shadow, until he becomes a much bolder demon. Jake (male, tenor/baritone) – A strange man walking in the woods, a bit of a stereotypical hick, but all is not as it seems. Deadites (18+; any ethnicity) – CHORUS OF 5+ ACTORS/SINGERS/DANCERS If you would like to get involved but don't want to be on-stage? Stage Door Inc. is always looking for people to help BACKSTAGE during production (as stage managers, crew, light or sound techs, prop-masters, etc.). Sound interesting?
