AUDITIONS for YOUNG ACTORS

Seeking:
Actors between 6-16 years old to play Lead/Featured child roles. Must be strong singers and actors, with the ability to speak in a British accent.

Auditions will be held BY APPOINTMENT on Sunday March 9th from 4-6 PM in NYC.
Callbacks will take place on Wed. March 12th 7-8 PM.
Prepare 32-bars of a traditional Musical Theater song. Bring a Headshot & Resume.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS (CHILD ROLES):

SARA CREWE [Lead, age 10-16] Sara is genuine, loving and kind. She creates adventurous stories to take her away from real life. This actress must be a strong singer and actress, with the ability to carry the show. Sara should play between 10-12 years old, but we may cast older if she can play younger.

BECKY [Lead, age 10-16] The scullery maid. Shy, sincere and curious. Cockney accent.

ERMENGARDE [Lead, age 8-14] Although she has charm and creativity, Ermengarde is the outcast until Sara arrives. She quickly becomes best friends with Sara, and when Sara is made a servant their friendship only grows stronger. She should be quirky and unique.

LOTTIE [Lead, age 5-9] The youngest. Lottie is often found screaming in hallways, out of frustration of her mothers passing. Sara comfort Lottie by telling her that she does not have a mother either. Lottie is adorable, imaginative and spunky. This young actress must be able to memorize lines/music and take direction very well. Seeking a “real” little girl, who is not overly trained.

LAVINIA [Lead, age 12-16] Very snobby and jealous of Sara from the minute she arrives.

JESSIE [Featured, age 8-16] Lavinia’s sidekick, who eventually grows to like Sara.

JANE (Act I)/ANNE (Act I/II) [Featured. age 6-14] Jane is a student at the Seminary. Anne is a beggar girl, who Sara gives a piece of bread to (appears several times).

DONALD CARMICHAEL [Lead, age 6-13] When he thinks that Sara is a beggar, Donald offers her some money. She does not accept, and so he comes up with an idea to help her. Donald is wealthy, confident and a little arrogant, but has a good heart.

BYRON CARMICHAEL [Featured, age 6-16] Donald’s brother, who helps Sara.

JOSEPHINE CARMICHAEL [Featured, age 6-16] Donald’s sister, who helps Sara.
