- December 15, 2025 Portland Playhouse’s annual production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL continues to be essential holiday viewing. It’s a gorgeous piece of theatre that honors tradition while finding ways to surprise even its most devoted returnees. Consider me among them, already looking forward to next year.

- December 15, 2025 This past season was the year of the comedy in St. Louis Theater. Companies across the city had audiences laughing all season long with slapstick, farce, and satire. There were some wonderful musical productions that really sang, a few hard hitting dramas, but comedies reigned in both quantity and quality. Instead of publishing a Top 10 list this year, I’m going to recognize the Best in St. Louis Theater for 2025. “The Best” is still a shortened list of just 13 shows out of the nearly 90 shows I saw this past year. It took weeks of thought and painstaking consideration to decide which productions would be included in my annual list. Here they are. The productions are listed in alphabetical order, not ranked by favorites:

Performing in such an intimate venue, the trio — Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood — set the tone early with a heartfelt rendition of “The First Noel.” Hillary’s voice led the way with warmth, while Charles and Dave added their signature harmonies, instantly pulling the audience into the Christmas spirit.

Review: CINDERELLA, Norwich Theatre by Kat Mokrynski
- December 15, 2025 In Norwich’s 2025 pantomime, Cinderella, audiences are transported to the beach town of Crabbington Sands, where Cinderella (Georgie May Foote) has been trapped in the old hotel that her deceased parents used to run by her wicked sisters, Lou (Owen Evans) and Lav (Kenny Moore). But, when Cinderella is able to escape for a day, she finds herself running into the Prince (Danny Hatchard) and falling in love, working to achieve her happily ever after with help from her friend Buttons (Joe Tracini) and her Fairy Godmother (Hannah-Jane Fox).
