Hailed by The New York Times as “one of the most versatile and thrilling contemporary ballet companies,” BODYTRAFFIC joins forces with internationally celebrated choreographer Trey McIntyre for a compelling evening that proves the creative match an undeniable hit. The program begins with Mayday, honoring and set to the music of Buddy Holly, followed by a special restaging of Ma Maison with excerpts of The Sweeter End in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Originally commissioned by NOBA in 2008 as a collaboration with the Trey McIntyre Project and the legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Ma Maison is “vibrant New Orleans-style jazz and brilliant contemporary ballet” (L.A. Times)—a poignant, powerful work that pays tribute to the indomitable spirit of the Crescent City.
