Continuing its effort to create a more all-engrossing event experience for its audience members,Southern Rep is proud to announce a series of events around its National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere production of THE TOTALITARIANS by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, January 29 - February 23, 2014 at 8:00 pm (with a 3:00 pm Sunday Matinee) at Mid-City Theatre, 3540 Toulouse Street.

We might be on the brink of revolution in Nebraska. Penny, a compulsive and compulsively-watchable candidate for state office enlists the help of Francine, a silver-tongued speech writer. Francine's husband Jeffrey, a doctor, is lying to his dying patients - one of whom opens his eyes to Penny's nefarious plans for the Cornhusker State. THE TOTALITARIANS is a raucous dark comedy about the state of modern political discourse, modern relationships and how easy it is to believe truths without facts.

Originally commissioned by the National New Play Network in partnership with Full Stage USA at New Dramatists, a program made possible by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Southern Rep's production of THE TOTALITARIANS stars New York-based actress Judith Hawking, Jessica Podewell, Leon Contavasprie and Ben Carbo will be performed in multiple spaces around Mid-City Theatre to deliver a uniquely participatory audience experience.

Note: THE TOTALITARIANS contains strong language and adult content. It is not recommended for children under 16.
