Next to Normal is an unflinching look at a suburban family struggling with the effects of mental illness, with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt, won the Pulitzer Prize and three Tony Awards, including Best Original Score. Vanguard's production stars Broadway actress Erica Dorfler (Memphis, Book of Mormon, Great Comet, A Christmas Carol) as Diana, adds an additional layer to this show, exploring how, in multi-racial families, mental health issues are often compounded by the environment around you, in this case, a "typical" suburb. Come laugh, cry, and heal with Vanguard in one of the ten performances of this groundbreaking show.
