Tom Rush and Livingston Taylor Come to SOPAC 9/16
Folk legends Tom Rush and Livingston Taylor will take the stage at the South Orange Performing Arts Center on Saturday, September 16 at 8 p.m. in a spectacular double bill celebrating the spirit of folk music. Both artists have careers that have seen them celebrated through the decades, and earned them legions of loyal fans.
Tom Rush is a pioneer of the urban Folk movement that shaped the music of the '60s and the renaissance of the '80s and '90s. While studying at Harvard, Rush frequented the multitude of coffee houses including Club 47, where he learned from the legendary artists who came to play. He was soon holding down a weekly spot and it wasn't long before he grew into his many talents. Among his numerous chart-topping hits is "No Regrets", a song that has been covered time and again through the years, and is an acknowledged folk classic. Today, Tom Rush lives every moment with "no regrets," still touring, making music and doing what he loves best. The years have only enhanced his passionate love of music and performing.
Livingston Taylor first picked up a guitar at age 13 and began a decades-long career that has spanned genres, showcasing his talents for songwriting, performance and teaching. It's no surprise that Livingston Taylor has had such a successful music career. The fourth child of a musical family, he shares the spotlight with his brother James Taylor. He and James have collaborated on several songs including the top-40 hits "I Will Be in Love with You", "I'll Come Running" and "Boatman." He has toured with top artists like Jimmy Buffett and Jethro Tull and continues to maintain a full tour schedule today. Taylor partnered with award-winning director Tracey Anarella to film the documentary "Livingston Taylor-Live is Good" slated for release in Fall of 2017.
Tom Rush and Livingston Taylor will bring their passion for Folk music to the South Orange Performing Arts Center on Saturday, September 16 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35-$55 and are onsale now.
