Tickets to 2016 Princeton Festival Now on Sale

Tickets are now on sale for events in the 2016 season of The Princeton Festival (www.princetonfestival.org), which opens June 4 with an a cappella concert and closes on June 26 with an opera and a musical comedy.

The Festival offers 22 performances in 11 different genres plus a series of free lectures, previews, and special events at venues in and around Princeton. Offerings range from three performances of the powerful opera Peter Grimes by Benjamin Britten to a concert by Grammy-winning jazz vocalist Cécile McLoren Salvant.

Stephen Sondheim's musical A Little Night Music runs for 10 performances. The silent film masterpiece The Passion of Joan of Arc will be shown, accompanied by a live performance of Richard Einhorn's oratorio Voices of Light, written especially for the film.

Also featured: the dazzling dance group Complexions Contemporary Ballet, the Concordia Chamber Players, baroque orchestra and choral concerts, an organ recital by Kristiaan Seynhave, and more.

"Our twelfth season will be the most exciting yet," said Richard Tang Yuk, the Festival's artistic director and general manager. "We've booked amazing artists, and the variety of outstanding events means there's something to appeal to everyone. We're expecting people to come to the Festival who've never been before."

The Festival is also enriched with free lectures, previews, workshops, a conducting master class, and a piano competition for young artists.

Performance Overview

Twenty-two performances by outstanding artists and ensembles begin on June 4.

• A cappella vocal jazz featuring the ensembles The Fonic and Break from Blue Collar, Saturday, June 4, Taplin Auditorium in Fine Hall, Princeton University.
• Voices of Light: a live performance of an oratorio accompanying a screening of The Passion of Joan of Arc, the 1928 film for which it was written. The presentation is given in partnership with The Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) and Princeton's Garden Theatre and features The Princeton Festival Chorus, four soloists, the Notre Dame Vocale, and the PSO. • Concordia Chamber Players: vocal works by Britten and Bax featuring tenor Nicholas Phan, plus the Brahms Piano Trio #1, Friday, June 10, Miller Chapel, Princeton Theological Seminary.
