Madison Artist Studio Tour to Be Held 6/12

The Madison Arts and Culture Alliance (MACA) will hold its fifth annual Madison Artist Studio Tour on Sunday, June 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Twenty artists who live or work in Madison will be participating in the event. The Madison Artist Studio Tour, which introduces some of the many visual artists in the Borough, will feature the participating artists' work either in their studios or in exhibition spaces throughout the Rose City. The self-guided walking tour will take place rain or shine.

Maps showing each of the locations and studios of the tour will be available for purchase beginning May 31st at the Birdhouse at 266 Main Street; Drip Café at 34 Main Street; the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts at 9 Main Street; Rose City Framemakers at 20 Waverly Place; and Sages Pages at 300 Main Street. On the day of the event, maps will be available for purchase at the Waverly Place clock. Maps are $5 each. The Madison Artist Studio Tourwill be launched from Waverly Place where students and community members can join Madison art teacher Michael Watson in the creation of a life-size 3-D sculpture in recognition of community spirit and the arts. Following the earthquake in Japan, Madison students created Japanese paper cranes and learned about how they could help the victims of the quake. The sculpture will continue these lessons and will be a tribute to the Japanese culture. Creation of the sculpture will begin at 10 a.m. near the clock on Waverly Place.

The twenty participating artists are Danielle Auriemma-D'Amico, Amy Becker, Ira L. Black, Medy Bozkurtian, Marco Catini, Sam Cavaliere, John DeLade, Bobbie Henry, Linda Howe, Helen Kaar, Joan Lamensdorf, Sally Lebwohl, Maria Lupo, Karen Matte, Dennis McKee, Paul Mueller, Debra Petitti, Priscilla Petitti, Mike Tesi, Barbara Thompson.

A free post-tour reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts, 9 Main Street, Madison. The reception is open to the public.
