Elaine Stritch to Launch SOPAC's Season Four Theater Series 10/8

South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) will launch its Season Four theater series, on Thursday, October 8th at 8PM. Tony Award winner Elaine Stritch will headline a staged reading of the little known The Pretty Trap by Tennessee Williams, which the acclaimed playwright titled "A Comedy in One Act." Produced in conjunction with Food for Thought Productions, the renowned New York company dedicated to the one-act play, the evening will be directed by Anthony Marsellis. Ms. Stritch will read the role of Amanda Wingfiled, with Tasha Lawrence performing the role of Laura. Ms. Stritch brings her critically acclaimed timing and wit to the role of Amanda, a complex character who Williams' attempts to lighten through her timely quips about the trials of dating and family. Recently starring in the highly popular run of The Full Monty at the Paper Mill Playhouse, Elaine Stritch's role in The Lighter Side of Tennessee Williams returns this grand-dame of theater to New Jersey for a one-night only experience. Founded in the fall of 2000 by playwright Susan Charlotte, Food for Thought Productions is entering its 20th season. The organization has garnered acclaim from The New York Times and Time Out New York for its commitment to presenting and promoting the one-act play format. The best of Broadway performs with Food for Thought including such luminaries as Kathleen Turner, Olympia Dukakis, and Elaine Stritch. Under the guidance of Ms. Charlotte, the company has grown in prestige and ambition. Following up on the successful presentation of When Words Are Not Enough during Season Three, Food for Thought returns to SOPAC, promising an evening of laughter with Elaine Stritch and Tennessee Williams.
