Barbara and Mary Morris, owners of The Henry Sawyer Inn in Cape May, will be East Lynne Theater Company's honorees on Wednesday, May 26 at the South Jersey Cultural Alliance's (SJCA) 15th Annual Paul Aiken Encore Awards Dinner at Bally's in Atlantic City. East Lynne is a proud member of SJCA, and this event offers the opportunity for members to recognize those who graciously support arts organizations in eight South Jersey counties. This year, thirty awards are expected to be bestowed, including the Alliance's own 2010 Lillian Levy Standing Ovation Award to Mark Packer, President of ArtPride New Jersey, and a special award to internationally acclaimed glass artisan, Paul Stankard. SJCA is also acknowledging PNC's Arts Alive program which funds a variety of events in the Philadelphia and South Jersey areas.
Ever since ELTC relocated to Cape May in 1989, Barbara and her mother, Mary, have purchased playbill ads, sponsored productions, housed artists, donated coupons for fundraisisers, and were the first B&B owners to offer discount ELTC theater tickets to their guests. And the actors appreciate Barbara bringing French toast to the cast house when there's a B&B breakfast surplus! This year, the Morrises are sponsoring ELTC's large-cast, time-travel romantic fantasy, "Berkeley Square," by John L. Balderstron. ELTC, celebrating thirty years of the American spirit on stage through timeless classics and world premieres, greatly appreciates the unwavering support of Barbara and Mary Morris, and is thrilled to be able to present them an Encore Award. The awards themselves are designed especially for this event by artists at Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center, and each is hand-made.
