The award-winning Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company always offers ways for patrons to save money, but from October 9-15, four theaters combined to create Theater Week in Cape May in which all have discount offerings.

The current production at ELTC is "A Year in the Trenches," running through October 14. A cast pf six portray over 30 characters, mostly real people with ties to New Jersey, like poet Joyce Kilmer and "Hello Girl" Grace Banker. Written by James Rana, and developed and directed by Gayle Stahlhuth, it's based on Charles Edward Dilkes' book "Remembering World War I: An Engineer's Diary of the War," and other historical sources. Live music from the period is performed throughout, and audiences are encouraged to sing along.

The script for this well-received world premiere was commissioned by the NJ Historical Commission and the NJ State Council on the Arts. "A Year in the Trenches" with interviews with the creative team was highlighted on "State of the Arts" on public television's NJTV and WHYY.

The Theater Week offering for this ELTC production is $24 top ticket price on Thursday, October 12. Usually, general admission is $32 and senior price is $27. Always at ELTC, ticket price for students, and those currently in the military, retired, or a veteran, is $17.00, and ages 12 and under are free when accompanied by a guardian. ELTC is still offering dinner/show and B&B/show packages, and occasionally discounts through NJArtstix.org and TDF.org. Those who have WHYY membership cards are admitted 2-for-the-price-of-one general admission ticket on Fridays.

"A Year in the Trenches" runs every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8:00 PM through October 14, except there is an added show on Sunday, October 8 at 7:30 PM, and on Wednesday, October 11, the show is at 2:00 PM with no evening performance. Location is The First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, 500 Hughes St., where the company is in residence. To learn more about the mainstage season which runs through mid-December, fundraisers, and other events, or to make reservations, call 609-884-5898 or visit eastlynnetheater.org.
