Lombardi swept onto Broadway in 2010 garnering strong reviews for Dan Lauria, who starred as the Green Bay Packers coach, and the play itself. Now, the Eagle Theatre of Hammonton, N.J., will become one of the first professional theatres in America to produce the play since it closed on Broadway when it runs from September 20 until October 12.

"It's exciting to be presenting the area professional premiere of this great piece. As a Football fan, and sports fan in general, it's like a dream come true for me," said Ed Corsi, co-artistic director of the theatre.

The play revolves around Vincent Lombardi, a legend in the realm of football. From peewee leagues to the NFL, coaches invoke his wisdom to inspire their players. Known for his tough yet warm-hearted personality, Lombardi pushed his team to three straight and five total league championships in seven years, including winning the first two Super Bowls following the 1966 and 1967 NFL seasons.

Set during one week in the 1965 Season, Lombardi tells of the coach's efforts to get the Green Bay Packers to the championship. The story develops as a "Look Magazine" reporter follows the prolific coach in the hope of finding out "what makes Lombardi win."

"The play Lombardi pays homage to the greatest coach of all time and is an ode to anyone who enjoys a story full of pride, passion and perseverance," said Ted Wioncek III, co-artistic director of the theatre.

Corsi and Wioncek III emphasize that people do not need to love sports or football to enjoy the show. Instead, they say anyone who likes powerful family dramas that tell inspiring stories about real-life characters will love Lombardi.

Wioncek III added, "Lombardi is also the perfect date. Ladies enjoy an evening of theatre and the men stay awake."

Lombardi premieres at the Eagle Theatre on September 20 at 8 p.m., and will run through October 12 with performances on September 21, 26, 27, 28, October 4, 5, 10, 11, 12 at 8 p.m., and September 29 and October 6 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 for General Admission and $30 for Front Rows. Tickets can be purchased at www.TheEagleTheatre.com. For more information, please contact the box office at (609) 704-5012.
