The theater will be alive with The Sound of Music when a one-hour concert sing-along adaptation of the classic show is presented by Bergen County Players (BCP) as the final Second Stage production of the 80th season. Running for just three performances, from June 21st through June 23rd, shows will be on Friday and Saturday night at 8pm while the Sunday matinee curtain will be raised at 2pm. While the original Broadway production, starring Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel, opened on November 16, 1959, this version will be enjoying its debut as a fast-paced, staged concert version of the beloved show.

While deciding whether convent life is right for her, the Mother Abbess (Cheryl Woertz of Alpine) finds her a position outside the abbey as the governess to the seven children of a
widower, Austro-Hungarian Navy battleship Captain Georg von Trapp (Chris McVey of HoHoKus).

The Bergen County Players has grown tremendously from its roots as a small community theater when it was founded in 1932; today, nearly 300 volunteer members, working on and off stage, make possible the nine productions presented each season.
