Alec Baldwin converses with acclaimed artist Patti Smith at a live taping of his podcast "Here's The Thing" at Mayo Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 8 pm. Tickets are $69 - $89.

Here's The Thing is a series of intimate and honest podcast conversations hosted by Alec Baldwin and produced by WNYC Studios. Alec talks with artists, policy makers and performers - to hear their stories, what inspires their creations, what decisions changed their careers, and what relationships influenced their work. Come enjoy a live taping of this evening of conversation as Alec welcomes Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, National Book Award winner, acclaimed visual artist and Jersey native Patti Smith.

Alec Baldwin is a star of stage and screen. He has appeared in over forty films, including Beetle Juice, Working Girl, Miami Blues, The Hunt for Red October, Glengarry Glen Ross, Malice, The Juror, The Edge, Ghosts of Mississippi, State and Main, The Cat in the Hat, The Cooler (National Board of Review Award for Best Supporting Actor, Oscar nomination), The Aviator, The Departed, and It's Complicated, among many others.

On television Baldwin starred with Tina Fey on NBC's "30 Rock", winner of the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. Baldwin has received five SAG Awards, three Golden Globes, the Television Critics Award and two Emmy awards as Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance on the show.

In 2011, Alec received his Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His company, El Dorado Pictures, has produced several projects including Nuremberg: Infamy On Trial for TNT television (Emmy nomination), The Confession for Showtime (WGA award for best adapted screenplay) and David Mamet's film, State and Main.

Patti Smith's first recording, Horses, was inducted into the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress in 2010 by The Library of Congress by the National Recording Preservation Board. Her subsequent albums are Radio Ethiopia, Easter, and Wave, Dream of Life, Gone Again, Peace and Noise, Gung Ho, trampin, Land, twelve, Banga. Outside Society, and Horses/Horses. She is a three time Grammy nominee and a Golden Globe nominee for the song Mercy Is from the film Noah.

Author of the acclaimed memoir, Just Kids, which chronicled her friendship and journey in art with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, Patti Smith was awarded the 2010 National Book Award. Her other books include Witt, Babel, Coral Sea, Woolgathering, Auguries of Innocence, Collected Lyrics, and the 2015 publication of M Train.

Patti Smith's art has been exhibited at galleries and museums worldwide. Represented by the Robert Miller Gallery in New York since 1978, her exhibitions include Strange Messenger, Land 250, Camera Solo, and most recently "18 Stations". Steven Sebring's 2008 documentary, dream of life: the movie, was acknowledged internationally and received an Emmy nomination.

Patti Smith continues to write, perform readings, work on artistic projects, and lends support for human right issues. Current tour dates and other information are posted on pattismith.net.
