The Palace Theatre in downtown Manchester is set to continue its 2011-2012 Professional Theatre Citizens Bank Performing Arts Series with Lend Me a Tenor, opening on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 7:30 pm. The show runs through Saturday January 28, 2012.

Lend Me a Tenor, an adult comedy, is set at the Cleveland Opera Company where everyone is anxiously anticipating the arrival of famed Italian opera star Tito Merelli to perform the title role in Othello. When it appears that Tito is incapacitated, the Company Manager and his assistant come up with a plan to fool everyone with a stand in. What could possibly go wrong? Like any good farce, Lend Me a Tenor integrates a complicated web of mistaken identity, crazy plot twists, double entendres, slamming doors and everybody desperately wanting something from poor Tito the tenor.

“Once a year the Palace Theatre produces a non musical as part of its Performing Arts Series and we continue to draw a growing local audience interested in non musicals. I am very excited to produce Lend Me a Tenor. Local artist, Christy Doherty returns from her set design work on Guys & Dolls to create the set, which is primarily a hotel suite. The cast of eight for this production is going to be incredible and we are fortunate to have Randall Frizado return to the Palace stage from his 2010 side-splitting performance as Gary in Noises Off,” states Carl Rajotte, Artistic Director. Randall’s previous credits include National tours of Bye, Bye Birdie and Horton the Elephant in Seussical, the Musical.

“For the Palace Theatre’s interpretation of this classic farce, I am eager to embrace the physical challenges of doing this play. The physical comedy is sure to leave the audience laughing,” adds Rajotte.

Tickets for Lend Me a Tenor may be purchased by calling the Palace Theatre box office at 603-668-5588 or online at www.palacetheatre.org. Tickets range from $15-$45 depending on seating.
