Tennessee Rep's Ingram New Works Festival Concludes 5/8

Tennessee Repertory Theatre has announced its schedule for the Martha R. Ingram New Works Festival. The festival will be held April 28 - May 8 at Nashville Children's Theatre and will feature staged readings of new plays from seven local playwrights as well as Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winner David Auburn.
MIXED NUTS cast hosts opening night benefit for Bellevue flood victims 5/7

Although the aftermath of devastating floods in the Nashville area resulted in a one-night postponement for the opening of 3Ps Production's Mixed Nuts, directed by Johnny Peppers, the cast will host a fundraiser at Friday night's performance -- Friday, May 7, the show's new opening night -- to benefit those people directly affected by the tragic events of the week.

Tennessee Women's Theater Project returns to the Nashville's Z. Alexander Looby Theater on Friday, May 7, with its fourth annual Women's Work showcase of performing and visual arts created by women. Running through Sunday, May 23, the festival cuts across typical borders of style, medium and genre, offering 11 completely different programs: poetry and essays; one-woman shows; staged readings of new plays; dance, and even a clown performance combining the Pochinko and Commedia dell' Arte Bouffon styles.
Nashville Symphony Successfully Relocates May Concerts

With Schermerhorn Symphony Center damaged by the extensive downtown flooding, the Nashville Symphony has moved swiftly to find alternative venues for multiple May concerts. The first of these is tomorrow (Friday) night's 8 p.m. free outdoor public concert in front of the Metro Courthouse, One Public Square.

Auditions for Oklahoma, scheduled for Monday, May 3, have been cancelled. The auditions have been rescheduled for Sunday and Monday, May 9 and 10, at 6:30pm each night at St. Paul's Episcopal Church (in Otey Hall) at 510 West Main Street in downtown Franklin. Devastating Floods Cause Theatre Closings; CHORUS LINE Will Dance On

Many members of the Middle Tennessee theatre community were displaced by floodwaters, with many experiencing loss of homes and belongings. Volunteer opportunities across the city are being coordinated by Hands-On Nashville (www.HON.org), while social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are being used by individuals to marshal support and help for friends who are victims of the devastation.

The Tennessee Performing Arts Center announces the installation of an Art*O*Mat® machine, located on Center Landing between the lobbies of Andrew Jackson Hall and James K. Polk Theater. One of 88 worldwide, and one of only two in Tennessee, the Art*O*Mat is a vintage cigarette machine that has been repurposed to dispense one-of-a-kind artwork.
